Commanding a strategic position in the military sector, CORDURA® NYCO fabrics have gained ground on global battlefields – and have made significant advances in Europe.
Now being used in uniforms for Slovenia’s fighting forces, CORDURA® NYCO was developed specifically as a highly durable but lightweight comfort solution for combat wear. To achieve this, the fabric is engineered with an intimate blend of INVISTA T420 nylon 6,6 staple fibre and high-quality cotton.
This delivers a tough and resilient fabric with enhanced abrasion and tear resistance. Giving the exceptional level of durability demanded by garments destined to be worn in the toughest and most hostile environments.
Durability with safety and comfort
The uniforms being issued to troops go beyond durability to offer other features and qualities found in this CORDURA® NYCO military-grade fabric. For example, how it reacts when ignited. The flame is slow to spread, and the charred fabric residue does not adhere to the skin.
Also, the high cotton content helps make the fabric easy and comfortable to wear over prolonged periods in action - giving another essential quality in uniforms for military and tactical wear.
So, CORDURA® NYCO offers a combination of performance factors that makes it an optimum choice in the defence sector.
Strengthening military alliances around the world
Mission-critical performance fabrics constructed with CORDURA® are worn by defence and tactical units across the globe – and our network of approved mills is equally international.
In this recent successful deployment, the CORDURA® NYCO came from Čateks - one of the oldest-established mills in Croatia, and one of our most important partners in Europe.
With its focus on the production of specialized fabrics for the military sector, Čateks has a heritage of high quality. A reputation which paid off with the winning of a major contract from the Ministry of Defence in their neighboring country of Slovenia.
CORDURA® NYCO and Čateks. Collaboration in action
The largest manufacturer of specialized military CORDURA® NYCO fabric in Europe, Čateks will be supplying the Slovenian MOD with approximately 180,000 metres over a three-year contract, which the company says is valued at an estimated €3 million.
This continues a close relationship that began in 2007 with a major project to supply the Croatian Army with CORDURA® NYCO – which continues to the present day. In a recent interview, Čateks director Davor Sabolić said:
“In addition to Slovenia, our company has so far manufactured fabrics for the armies of Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Kuwait, Montenegro. We are currently developing projects for the military, special forces units or police in the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands, Estonia, Italy, the Nordic countries and others.”
Wherever men and women put themselves in the line of fire, in military and law enforcement organisations throughout the world, CORDURA® fabric is working to provide the protection they deserve and demand.
