The CORDURA® brand history spans fifty years now – but for our latest inspiration, we looked back even further. All the way back to the pioneering days of the early 20th century when denim was the fabric worn by the pioneers of a new world.
Building railroads. Wrangling automobiles. Working the most stubborn land. Doing jobs that got you good and dirty. That’s where you’d find denim, rolling its sleeves up and muscling its way through whatever was thrown at it. And in the process, getting scuffed and stained with oil and sweat. Yet you know something? The harder it worked, the better it looked. So we asked ourselves, what if we could get that look and feel back, but bring it bang up to date? The answer is clear to see in the Re\Mastered Collection, curated by “Monsieur-T” Studio.
Based in Paris, Monsieur-T. is an international studio renowned for its flair in denims and bottoms. It was founded by Tilmann Wröbel – avant garde designer and denim guru. Here’s how he describes the creation of the Re\Mastered Collection:
“Our studio reached out to find real collectible pieces from the past, which is in perfect alignment with the CORDURA® brand’s 50th anniversary year. Blending “Monsieur-T.” Studio designs with CORDURA® Denim technicity and vintage flair makes for trend-driven utility clothing. Our dream was to combine science and innovation in products that showed a human touch through signs of time and wear, and the addition of CORDURA® fabrics from some of the world’s leading denim mills really brought the collection to life.”
The new collection takes classic shapes and authentic details of garments from the past and ‘remasters’ them in CORDURA® Denim - the enduring fabric of the future, specially engineered by these leading mills.
ARVIND’S classic CORDURA® Denim looks well washed and worn, and like it’s been hammered hard in the line of duty. It’s highlighted in a 1940s-style Belgian coverall with genuine detailing borrowed from the versatile work uniform of the traditional army mechanic.
ARTISTIC MILLINERS’ heavy duty, indigo blue, specially engineered 15 osy CORDURA® Denim has been uniquely remastered for a heritage workwear outfit that mixes 1960s-style Swiss fireman’s jacket, with a classic pant and a traditional German work apron.
CONE DENIM’S CORDURA® red-edge selvedge denim takes inspiration from across Europe and different decades of the 20th century – in a classic 1960s-style Dutch utilitarian field jacket combined with retro French motorcycle pants.
KIPAS CORDURA® Canvas fabric has been custom dyed in British Khaki to create a heritage work outfit featuring a 1920s-style classic French workwear pant, a reinvented Fireman’s jacket and a German brewery apron.
All garments in the Re/Mastered collection were specially dyed and finished by the Denim Authority team in Tunisia to give the fabrics the authentic worn heritage look and feel that is central to the collection’s style.
The global CORDURA® brand and marketing director neatly captures the essence of this latest concept – and its timing:
“The Re/Mastered Collection is a true embodiment of ’heritage meets innovation’. Through this collaboration, we’re able to work with our valuable authorized mills, ‘Monsieur-T’ and Denim Authority to create a vintage yet high-tech collection in celebration of our 50th anniversary.”
