INVISTA Supports Team Ranger Joe's in 2008 Wild Turkey Challenge
Company Donates CORDURA® Baselayer T-shirts Worn by Team Ranger Joe’s
INVISTA’s CORDURA® brand supported Team Ranger Joe’s in the 2008 Wild Turkey Challenge that took place recently in Perry County, Indiana, near the Ohio River. The event officially kicked-off the 2008 Campbell Outdoor Challenge televised circuit that is recognized for bringing outdoor adventure into the homes of millions of viewers nationwide. This year, the teams representing eleven states competed for more than $100,000 in cash and prizes.
The contest involved 12 full-circuit camera teams who set out to match their skills during four consecutive days of filming turkey hunts. Team Ranger Joe’s was given the exclusive opportunity to preview the recently unveiled CORDURA® Baselayer t-shirt (which was launched in Ranger Joe’s stores and catalogue on June 21.
“I wore the CORDURA® Baselayer shirt all three days. This was the first time I’d worn one for any amount of time and I totally loved it!” said David Peavey, director of growth and development with Ranger Joe’s International. “Not only was it comfortable, it totally surprised me at just how well is worked and how fast it dried out. Plus after wearing the same shirt everyday - it still looked and felt great!”
The Baselayer t-shirt boasts the legendary qualities of CORDURA® fabric that customers have come to know and trust: • Excellent moisture management performance • Enhanced comfort and breathability• Exceptional abrasion resistance • Legendary durability
“While the CORDURA® Baselayer t-shirt is initially being launched in the military market, the fabric is a perfect solution for outdoor enthusiasts looking for an effective base layer that wicks moisture away from skin, so we jumped at the chance to support this year’s Wild Turkey Challenge,” says Cindy McNaull, global brand manager of INVISTA’s CORDURA® brand. “What’s more, participants wearing the tee were able to experience firsthand the exceptional CORDURA® brand durability found in the Baselayer, without sacrificing comfort.”
In addition, during an earlier outdoor challenge event, INVISTA donated a number of CORDURA® Baselayer t-shirts, packs and tactical vests for raffles that helped to raise $700 for the Wounded Warrior Project – a non-profit that provides support to soldiers wounded in combat.
As INVISTA prepares to officially launch the Baselayer to the military market, the undergarment is being touted for its next-to-skin performance when exposed to heat to heat in flash fire situations such as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Constructed with a unique blend of INVISTA™ T420 nylon 6,6 fiber and cotton, the fabric insulates the body under heat threat. When exposed to these high temperatures, the fabric forms gels and chars around the cotton creating an entirely new fabric structure with a higher ignition resistance that, unlike polyester, does not drip or melt onto the skin.
