World Renowned Explorer Waves CORDURA® Brand Flag At Community Events

INVISTA’s  CORDURA® brand team is bringing the CORDURA Cares(sm) Program back to the Salt Lake City community during the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, Thursday, Jan. 21, through Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010.

“Our team is excited about continuing to expand its presence beyond the tradeshow floor into the Salt Lake City community with the CORDURA Cares(sm) Program,” said Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA® brand and marketing director. “The program allows us to share our passion for the environment with consumers in a fun, educational setting for the whole family.”

The CORDURA® brand team’s goodwill ambassador, Helen Thayer, will be featured at several Salt Lake City community events. The renowned adventurer, who was the first woman to trek the magnetic North Pole in 1988, will share her experiences breaking boundaries. In addition to sharing her experiences of setting new outdoor records, Thayer will also speak on the importance of getting today’s youth outside and enjoying the world around them.  Additionally, Thayer and the CORDURA® brand team will provide attendees at the community events with items such as  CORDURA Cares(sm) program backpacks made with CORDURA® EcoMade fabric (made from recycled resources) to help encourage and foster a life-long passion for the great outdoors.

“With community events such as the ones presented by Helen Thayer this year at the Outdoor Retailer show, we are looking forward to the opportunity to build more personal connections with our current and future end-users and sharing our love for the environment,” continues McNaull.

Since its launch in 2009, the CORDURA Cares(sm) Program remains committed to supporting efforts that promote environmental, health and safety excellence and corporate citizenship.  Anchored by its tagline “Sustainability Begins with Products that Last™,” the program pursues goals in four key pillars:  Responsible Manufacturing, Sustainable Performance, Enduring Materials, and Corporate Citizenship.

The CORDURA Cares(sm) program is also an example of INVISTA’s efforts to communicate its commitment to conserve resources, reduce emissions, protect the environment and increase the utility and durability of its products, with the end-goal of providing long-term value to its customers and society.

Derek Young, INVISTA Performance Surfaces and Materials’ new global sustainability manager, stated, “The CORDURA Cares(sm) program is an excellent example of our commitment to sustainability through  responsibly producing high-quality, innovative products and participating in local community outreach events. The events in Salt Lake City give us an opportunity to showcase CORDURA® EcoMade fabric while demonstrating our commitment to enriching the lives of our end-users.”
