Inspiring Tomorrow’s Designers
Through years of participation in student design competitions, we’ve discovered it’s often the students who teach us the most. We get the opportunity to see our technologies brought to light in new and creative ways—often much quicker than typical market adoptions allow.
That’s why we’re excited to once again collaborate with the Professional Clothing Awards on the PCA 2018 VISION contest. Inspiring and honoring exceptional workwear, corporate clothing and PPE designs from textile and fashion students. But this year there’s a little twist.
The PCA VISION contest is literally expanding its boundaries. For the first time, it’s open to students at participating schools across Europe, including those in the U.K., France, Portugal and Germany.
The contest requires students to share their vision of stylish, functional and professional clothing for a specific job in any sector of their choice. Designers must show their garments will meet the needs of these workers and help enhance their ability to perform the job.
As part of the PCA VISION 2018 contest, we are also sponsoring the CORDURA® Durable Design Award. The award will be presented to the PCA VISION 2018 entrant whose designs and finished garments best meet the needs of the worker in their selected category – in terms of innovative solutions that show a 360-degree approach to understanding the challenges faced in that job role and environment. This 360 type approach is fundamental to our new Live Durable™ brand positioning and reflects our commitment to developing varying degrees of innovative fiber and fabric technologies designed to provide a durable layer of protection for what matters most.
Ten finalists will be selected and invited to bring their designs to life, with each finalist creating one showcase outfit. The judging panel for the contest is comprised of innovative leaders with a strong knowledge base in workwear garment development and product design as well as experience in the professional clothing industry.
Participants are already hard at work. The PCA VISION contest launched at the end of September 2017. Winners will be announced live at the Professional Clothing Awards annual gala event June 20, 2018 at The Park Plaza London Riverbank. For more information, visit www.professionalclothingawards.com.
