INVISTA’s CORDURA® Brand Team Returns to the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Trade Show
New Durable Denim Technology to be Unveiled at ‘70s Themed Party
INVISTA’s CORDURA® brand team will once again be an active participant in one of the outdoor industry’s most powerful buying events: this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Trade Show, one of the largest outdoor sports industry gatherings in the world.
Bringing together qualified retail buyers of outdoor brands, manufacturers, and cutting edge technologies, the Outdoor Retailer trade show showcases the latest products for the upcoming season. In this light, CORDURA® brand team members will unveil its new line of denim at its ‘70s theme party (Booth #39210).
The CORDURA® Denim fabric launch is Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Along with being able to check out this innovative line of CORDURA® Denim fabrics, the party will also feature food, drinks, ‘70s music, games and prizes.
“For years the CORDURA® brand has known for producing high-quality products, and we are very excited to debut our new line of high-performance and stylish denim technology at this summer’s OR trade show,” said Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA® brand and marketing director. “Our roots date back to the 70’s, so we thought it only fitting to roll in a new look and feel of CORDURA® fabric technology with a groovy ‘70s themed event.”
Comfortably durable CORDURA® Denim fabric is based on an intimate blend of cotton and INVISTA’s T420 nylon 6,6 fiber, allowing for the authentic look and feel of traditional 100 percent cotton denim with exceptional durability. Additionally, CORDURA® Denim fabric is four times more resistant to abrasion than traditional100 percent cotton denim fabric, without sacrificing on look or comfort.
CORDURA® Denim fabric will also be debuted at this summer’s Project OR competition. Project OR selects five of the top design students from all over the country to join in a 48-hour design competition that emphasizes the functionality, creativity and design of outdoor recreation clothing. Over the past several competitions, the CORDURA® brand team has donated a variety of different fabrics in support of the project, resulting in several of the winning products utilizing CORDURA® fabric technologies.
One such example is this past Winter 2010 Project OR winner, Faith Anderson of Philadelphia University, who received top honors for her insulated outerwear jacket featuring CORDURA® fabric. “I ran right to the grey CORDURA® fabric for my jacket because it featured a water-resistant finish - a great hand for a ski jacket - and was a great basic color,” said Anderson. “I enjoyed working with the nylon fabric to produce a fashionable and functional ski jacket.”
